Walsall South 1 Primary Care Network (PCN)
Our practice is part of the Walsall South 1 Primary Care Network, a collaboration of nine GP practices working together to deliver safe, effective, and coordinated primary care services to the population of south Walsall.
Primary Care Networks enable neighbouring GP practices to work in partnership with community services, pharmacies, mental health teams, social care providers, and voluntary sector organisations. This integrated approach supports improved access, broader service provision, and more personalised care for patients, particularly those with long‑term or complex health needs.

Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS)
To expand the care we can provide, Walsall South 1 PCN employs a wide range of additional healthcare professionals:
ARRS GP – Provide additional GP capacity within the network. They support with same‑day appointments, long‑term condition reviews, clinical decision‑making, and continuity of care. ARRS GPs work across practices to help manage demand, reduce waiting times, and ensure patients are seen by the right clinician at the right time
Clinical Pharmacists – Undertake structured medication reviews, either in person or by telephone. They ensure that medicines are safe, appropriate, and well understood, and support patients with optimising long‑term medication.
Social Prescriber – Works with patients to identify non‑medical needs and connect them with community groups, social care services, housing support, and wellbeing activities. Their role focuses on improving overall quality of life and independence.
Care Coordinators – Provide personalised support to help you navigate your healthcare needs. They assist with care planning, organise follow‑up appointments, ensure you stay on track with long‑term condition management, and act as a point of contact for ongoing support.
Physician Assistant – Supports GPs by conducting clinical assessments, reviewing medical histories, performing examinations, and assisting with the management of long‑term conditions.
First Contact Physiotherapists (FCPs) – FCPs provide rapid assessment for musculoskeletal problems. They diagnose, advise, and initiate treatment without the need for a GP referral, helping patients access early, specialist expertise.
Paramedics – See, asses, and treat patients within practices, at home, or in care homes for acute problems, and support people with long‑term conditions.
Mental Health Practitioner – Provides specialist mental health support within general practice. They assess mental health needs, offer brief interventions, provide coping strategies, and support patients with conditions such as anxiety, depression, stress, and low mood. They work closely with local mental health services and can facilitate referrals when appropriate.
GP Assistants – Support GPs by carrying out administrative and basic clinical tasks to improve efficiency and patient flow. GP Assistants help with tasks such as preparing patients for examinations, maintaining clinical equipment, performing simple observations (e.g., blood pressure, pulse), updating records, managing correspondence, and supporting long‑term condition clinics. Their role helps free up GP time, ensuring patients are seen more quickly and enhancing continuity of care.
Working Across the Network
Because our practices work closely together, you may occasionally be offered an appointment at another Walsall South 1 practice if this provides the most appropriate or earliest available option.
